We believe Jesus is just waiting to be asked to join us in our work, that our work is ordained by God and can be used by him to advance His Kingdom. Our desire is that people working in the marketplace would be empowered with the revelation that their work matters to God. God doesn’t place a higher value on sacred work over secular work. One of the ways we seek to encourage people in the various careers outside the church is through our Marketplace Lunch. The lunch is every 3rd Wednesday of the month at noon.
Following are the three purposes of this time:
1) Fellowship – We hope people would know they are not alone.
2) Encouragement – We want people to be free to step into what God has for them. If that is a marketplace job, we want people to know they are not second class citizens in the Kingdom of God. Jesus can work through them in ministering and advancing God’s Kingdom in and through their work.
3) Vision – We invite people to speak who are older, wiser and have some experience in marketplace and ministry. We have found that there is such amazing vision imparted as we hear stories and experiences. We are able to ask questions of people who have been able to hold in tension work, ministry, and family while maintaining a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus over a period of 10, 20, 30 years or more.
The lunch is open to men and women both inside and outside our church. Please come and enjoy a fresh vision of what God can do in and through your work. For more information contact Eric Jones at eric@data-imagery.com.
